Python Fundamentals

This course introduces the Python programming language and how it relates to controlling a mechatronic system. It is designed for students with little to no prior programming experience. Students will learn the fundamentals of Python syntax, structure and operations.

Basic Life Support Training (BLS)

Basic Life Support (BLS) course teaches essential skills for recognizing and responding to life threatening emergencies, particularly in health care and professional settings.

Course is a 4 1/2 hour class - on one day

  • Correct compression rate for 1 person and 2 person CPR

Vegetarian Cooking

This class will be a thoroughly enjoyable experience turning vegetables, grains, & legumes into delicious & creative meals. Students will learn recipes and techniques that can be easily recreated at home. Perfect for special events, house parties, or important everyday dinners. There will be quite a bit of lively and informative nutrition discussion in this class, as well as a full “hands-on” cooking, by each student, of a complete meal.

Requirements- students are required to wear proper footwear- closed toe and closed heel shoes with slip resistant soles.

Bring containers and a bag so you can easily take home dishes you prepare.

GBCC provides: knives, cutting boards, towels, apron, kitchen supplies, and ingredients

Students should expect to be working in a professional kitchen under the instruction of our highly experienced Chef Instructor, using tools, knives, ovens, stoves, and specialized equipment.

Electrical for Manufacturing

Upon completing this course students will be able to explain the functions of basic electrical components found in the manufacturing environment. Students will also be able to build circuits from schematics, wiring diagrams, and work instructions. Students will be able to assess circuits using basic electrical measuring equipment to test circuit function, record data, and locate circuit failures. Students will also be able to define Ohm’s Law and circuit theory. Prerequisite: None

Soups, Stocks & Sauces

Using many basic knife and utensil skills, students will learn the basics of preparing deeply flavored stocks. Well prepared stocks will be used to create a variety of flavorful soups and sauces in this class. The techniques for creating sauces thickened with various methods are taught in this class, such as the creation and use of roux, starch-based thickeners, & beurre monte and how to thicken with sea plants for highly nutrious alternatives to traditional thickeners.
