Beginning Welding

$1,025

This 27-hour introductory course gives you hands-on training in four essential welding and cutting processes: Oxy/Acetylene Cutting, Plasma Cutting, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick), and Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG). Designed for beginners, this course covers equipment setup, safety practices, and proper technique for each process, building a solid foundation you can apply to home projects, hobby fabrication, or a future career in the trades. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn and get your hands dirty. By the end of the course, you'll be able to confidently set up and operate oxy/acetylene, plasma, stick, and MIG equipment to make clean, structurally sound welds and cuts. Space is limited, so register early to reserve your spot in the shop.

Student must provide their own basic protective equipment:

  • Shade 11-12 welding helmet
  • Welding jacket 9 (either fire resistent or leather)
  • Multipurpose welding gloves
  • Shade 3-5 cutting safety glasses, ansi z-87

Proper class attire is required: safety toe high top leather work boots, heavy quality cotton work jeans and long sleeve cotton shirt.

Equipment can be purchased at Airgas Suppy:
